In the spring and in the fall Hughes Springs promotes a City Wide Garage Sale. The dates for the sale for this fall are Septemeber 16-17. We all have too much stuff and we all could use some extra money so this is the time to make a sale. Sellers need to clean out their closets, attics and storage buildings and make some money. If you would like to set up in the downtown area please contact the Chamber of Commerce to assist you in getting the proper permissions for the space. Advertising for this sale is in area wide papers as well as those in surrounding cities. In the past we have had shoppers from all over the Ark-La-Tex who come to Hughes Springs to "shop".
On Saturday, Septemeber 17th we will be holding the annual Treasure Trails Car Show. This car show is under the sponsorship of the Chamber of Commerce and the direction of car enthusiast Bobby Royal. Car clubs from the area will be bringing their cars and trucks for the show. There are several classes for entry and the entry fee for each class is $15.00. You may pick up entry forms at the Chamber of Commerce or register the day of the event. The cars will be parked next to the Library/Museum and down old First Street. Each entry will receive a goody bag. Of course trophies will be awarded in all categories as well as a Best of Show and People's Choice.
As part of the weekend sale the Hughes Springs Area Library and Museum will re open the garage sale they had for back to shcool. All clothes are a $1.00 so bring your big bags and find just what you need for fall and winter.
If you have additional questions or would like to be put on the map for the garage sales please contact the Chamber 903-639-2351.

We began Scarecrow Row several years ago and the population around town has grown. Many of you have them in your yards and the City decorates all of the downtown with some very clever "crows". All of the merchants downtown bring fall to their business by decorating with these unique characters. Each year the Red Radiance Garden Club builds and dresses the scarecrows. They will be building those downtown next to Dorothy's Corner so go by and pick up a ready made one or order something special. They need overalls and men's work boots so donations are welcome. If you would like to order or need more information call Patsy 903-639-3272 or Greta 903-63-2684.
